Weekly Digest #119: Study Resources for Students

The start of the fall term is just around the corner for many students. Hopefully students coming to this blog have already read up on how to study using effective study habits. This week's digest features a few resources to help you get yourself organized and put these effective study habits into practice!

1. Time Management and Organization by Bucknell University

Some of the effective study habits that we talk about here at Learning Scientists require some planning and time management. Spaced practice, retrieval, and interleaving require some pre-planning and organization. This helpful resource from Bucknell University has templates and printouts to help manage your time.

2. 8 Flashcard Apps to Make Your Study Session Less Analog by Lily Lou

There is a sea of apps and programs to help you quiz yourself and practice retrieval. This list gives a short overview of some of of the better known apps. 

3. SmartCards+ 

Another app to help with retrieval practice. This app was designed with research from learning and memory in mind. You can read more about that process in an interview we did with the designer, Joe LeBlanc.

4. 10 Online Tools for Better Attention and Focus by Joceyln K. Glei

Finally, it's hard to keep to your awesome new study plan and focus if you can't sleep. We've talked about the importance of sleep for cognition and memory before. These simple tips are a first step towards getting better sleep.
